Smoke-proof doors can be used as entrance doors to the apartments or to the rooms with the possibility of a fire and spreading of products of combustion - e.g. from a garage to the apartment, from a boiler room to the apartment, etc. The use of smoke-proof doors is given by project documentation subject to the building permit. Smoke-proof doors are marked with Sa or Sm according to the smoke temperature they resist to. In case of fitting the smoke-proof door in the metallic doorframe this must be provided with sealing.
If you wish your SAPELI fire door to also be smoke-proof, you have to order it; such combination is not automatic.
The smoke-proof door must be provided with a mechanical threshold; the compulsory plate placed on the vertical side (near hinges) must contain an S and a service book.
Most deaths in fires are not caused by burning but by suffocation. This is a very strong argument when considering the purchase of a smoke-proof fire door.
